Backup & Recovery
Save your industrial systems as often as needed, restore them in minutes, and ensure continuous, controlled, and secure production.
How to maintain production despite a system failure?
In Industry 4.0 environments, every minute counts. Even minor incidents : a disk failure, a botched update, etc., can stop a machine and halt production lines, leading to financial losses, reduced productivity, and risks to quality and safety.
Factory Systemes has developed Backup & Recovery, a system image backup and recovery solution designed specifically for the needs of industrial applications.
Our goal is to provide manufacturers with a simple, reliable, and secure tool to safeguard critical systems.
Local, fast & intuitive Backup and Recovery
Full and incremental backups can be made anytime directly to an industrial-grade SSD supplied by Factory Systemes with your machine.
Restore any desired backup (Index) directly via the administration console and resume operations in under 10 minutes.
- No advanced technical expertise required
- Reliable, immediate recovery
- Reduced machine downtime
Backup & Recovery operates entirely on-premises (no cloud): all backups and restorations are performed locally on industrial-grade SSDs.
- No internet connection required.
- No subscription needed, the solution is fully licensed, with no recurring fees or potential price increases.
- Complete control over your data, with the entire backup and recovery process handled on-site, eliminating risks associated with outsourcing or digital sovereignty.
An “factory image” is provided with the solution, allowing rapid restoration to the machine’s original configuration, including operating system, drivers, and Factory Systemes settings, for immediate return to service in case of failure, corruption, or error.
Backup & Recovery: using dependable industrial-grade storage
With an average MTBF of 3,000,000 hours, Innodisk SSDs guarantee durable protection for your data.
Backup & Recovery supports all industrial PCs thanks to its multiple form factors (2.5″ SATA SSD, M.2 SATA, and NVMe PCIe).
Backup & Recovery: a cybersecurity-ready solution
AES-256-GCM encryption effectively protects sensitive industrial data. It renders information unreadable without the decryption key, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Key points:
- Data unreadable without the decryption key
- Detection of unauthorized modifications
- Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Enhanced protection against attacks, including ransomware
- Secures data to ensure industrial continuity
- Increased confidence in backup and recovery processes
- Protects critical backup and recovery functions from any unauthorized access
-
Preserves the integrity and confidentiality of critical industrial data
-
Prevents accidental or malicious manipulation of the backup system
-
Secure boot and software interface protected by password
-
Enables secure access for authorized technical teams in case of emergency
-
Ensures action traceability to support accountability
-
Strengthens compliance with security standards and industrial best practices
The UUID in Factory Systemes’ Backup & Recovery is essential: each backup is assigned a unique identifier, ensuring it can only be restored on the original machine. This secures consistency and prevents errors or incompatibilities in critical industrial environments.
It is still possible to export and import images to another machine, provided it also runs Backup & Recovery. In this case, the software generates a new UUID, creating an exclusive link between the SSD and the image.

FAQ – Understanding your Backup & Recovery solution
Backup & Recovery is a comprehensive local backup solution, offering advanced encryption, full and incremental backups, and secure restoration via an administration console to ensure industrial protection and continuity.
FS USB Recovery, which is simpler and faster, uses an industrial USB key to restore the machine to its factory state without requiring technical skills, enabling immediate recovery.
In summary, Backup & Recovery focuses on advanced local management, while FS USB Recovery prioritizes simplicity and speed through a physical medium.
The solution is compatible with multiple operating systems, including Windows 8, 10, and 11, as well as Windows Server 2016, 2022, and 2025, making it versatile for a wide range of industrial environments.
The difference between Backup & Recovery and Acronis True Image lies in their target users and functionalities. Backup & Recovery, developed by Factory Systemes, is a local solution specifically designed for industrial environments.
It provides backups on industrial-grade SSDs with advanced encryption, management via a secure console, and image identification using UUIDs, ensuring that restoration can only be performed on the original machine.
In contrast, Acronis True Image is aimed at the general public and SMEs, offering flexible backups (disk image or files), cloud options, disk cloning, and universal restoration, with a focus on simplicity and built-in antivirus protection. Backup & Recovery prioritizes industrial robustness and security, while Acronis emphasizes flexibility and user convenience.
By default, no. Restoration is tied to the original hardware via the UUID and cannot be transferred to another machine, ensuring data integrity and security. However, Factory Systemes can perform an upgrade by assigning a UUID to new equipment.
Backup & Recovery uses a perpetual license: once purchased, it remains valid without any subscription or cloud plan. This gives industrial users complete autonomy to manage their solution without recurring costs. The license is embedded directly on the SSD hosting the software.
